Bill Cottick practices corporate/commercial and transportation law in Victoria, BC, and has extensive senior management, corporate governance and board experience.

Bill worked for over 18 years as a senior legal officer and member of the senior executive leadership team of a number of large Canadian public companies, including Wardair, Laidlaw and Jannock, and most recently was Executive Vice President and General Counsel at BC Ferries. He has performed key executive leadership roles in strategic planning, corporate governance, risk management, relations with government and regulatory agencies, corporate finance, large capital projects, and real property development. Prior to his corporate roles, he practiced corporate/commercial and real property law in Vancouver, BC, including several years with a major Western Canadian law firm. He has also served as legal counsel to a federal Commission of Inquiry into a major air crash.

Bill holds the ICD.D designation from the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors, and has served as a director of a number of private sector and not-for-profit corporations. He is a recipient of the National Post/ZSA Western Canadian General Counsel lifetime achievement award, in part for his work in corporate governance. He is a past member of the Provincial and National Councils of the Canadian Bar Association.

Bill holds law degrees from the University of British Columbia and the University of London (LSE), and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
