The Land Title and Survey Authority (LTSA) has delayed plans to move to a new office in Kamloops until January 2022, with records moving to Victoria by December 2021. The revised schedule provides the LTSA with additional time to seek advice and feedback from stakeholders on the preservation and accessibility of historic land title records, prioritizing records related to First Nations.
Recognizing the value of the records for First Nations, the LTSA will establish a Historic Records Advisory Committee to provide advice to the LTSA regarding the preservation and accessibility of the records in the LTSA archives. The Historic Records Advisory Committee will include members recommended by First Nations organizations in BC and by the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.
The LTSA staff positions currently based at the Kamloops LTSA office will continue to be based in the city after the move to a new facility in 2022. The LTSA maintains offices in New Westminster, Victoria and Kamloops, and provides online services for land title and survey functions. The LTSA is a regulatory authority, independent from government, and responsible for administering the land title and survey systems of BC.
