The Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) is pleased to report the ParcelMap BC Adoption Working Group (AWG) met for a third time on November 21, 2018 to continue its work facilitating best practices for implementing ParcelMap BC.

AWG Working Session #3 highlights include:

  • BC Assessment (BCA) is ready to use ParcelMap BC as the base cadastre for their Assessment Fabric, along with the faster and simpler update process. BCA is also interested in learning how to work with local governments and other stakeholders to facilitate adoption.
  • Local governments rely on BCA data interoperability with their parcel fabric. ParcelMap BC does not introduce any new issues and instead can help drive opportunities for workflow improvements and efficiencies.
  • Opportunities around adoption include streamlining the information flow of data products between the LTSA, BCA and local government members.

Working Session discussions also included:

  • The LTSA's recently released Spatial Improvement resources to support greater visibility into how and when candidate areas are prioritized for spatial improvements in ParcelMap BC.
  • ICI Society's launch of 360LABS, a series of workshops to support its local government members to review their existing workflows and technology environments, and identify opportunities for ParcelMap BC integration.
  • The ICI Society and GeoBC are preparing attribute mapping resources to illustrate how the ICF and ICI Society Cadastre data models related to ParcelMap BC.

The AWG is facilitated by the LTSA and ICI Society, with representation by participants from local governments, the Province, land surveyors and other stakeholder groups who can benefit from adopting ParcelMap BC.

The next AWG meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, 2018. Contact the PMBC AWG facilitators at pmbc.awg@icisociety.ca for more information.
