The Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) and the Integrated Cadastral Information Society (ICI Society) held the fifth ParcelMap BC Adoption Working Group (AWG) session on January 16, 2019 to assess the group’s progress and identify priorities for the new year.

Overall, AWG participants reported that the working group processes and discussions deliver high value and help with their work to adopt ParcelMap BC. Suggested changes that are underway for 2019 focus on extending the value and reach of the AWG to all ICI Society members by:

  1. Improving access to ParcelMap BC user education and related resources
  2. Establishing ‘peer ambassadors’ from participants as a channel to bring forward key questions from the community
  3. Increasing participation across the adoption stakeholder groups
  4. Involving non-GIS users of ParcelMap BC to support workflows within adopter organizations

The next session will focus on ideas presented by participating Solution Providers to help make the most of ParcelMap BC in adopter organizations. Presenters will include DataBC and ESRI Canada with workshops targeted at unpacking the concepts into solution possibilities. Participants have been tasked with bringing their ideas to the session in response to this question: “If there was a tool or service that would address a challenge you have to adopting ParcelMap BC, what would it do?”

Have a suggestion for the group? Submit it before the next AWG session on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, by contacting the ParcelMap BC AWG facilitators at pmbc.awg@icisociety.ca.
