The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW), with support from the Integrated Cadastral Information Society (ICI Society), recently chose to adopt ParcelMap BC as their primary cadastral layer. ParcelMap BC is the current, complete and trusted spatial representation of the cadastre in British Columbia. It integrates nearly 2.2 million titled and Crown land parcels across the province to improve the speed and efficiency of land-related research, planning and business decisions.

The RMOW is Whistler’s local government organization and a leader in providing municipal programs, services, progressive planning and infrastructure for almost 12,000 residents and three million annual visitors. RMOW chose ParcelMap BC to improve their ability to provide the community with accurate, up-to-date, and trustworthy map-based products, including online tools such as the publically accessible Whistler Parking and Winter Valley Trail Maps.

The ICI Society supports local governments throughout the province to adopt ParcelMap BC, with support from the Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia. Whistler GIS and ICI Society Operations worked together to create a custom mapping package that meets Whistler’s specifications and includes useful GIS layers from the ICI Society database, such as those from BC Hydro, FortisBC, Shaw and TELUS infrastructure.
