On March 13, 2019, the ParcelMap BC Adoption Working Group (AWG) held its seventh working session to discuss how the provincial and local governments as well as other land development organizations can access supporting resources that help with transitioning to using ParcelMap BC as their primary cadastral parcel data representation.

1.  ParcelMap BC Product Documentation, Data Alignment and Integration Resources

Several key updates were heard, including documentation to be published over the next month which includes more visual aids to understand the features, tables, schema and data relationships included in ParcelMap BC. An ICF to ParcelMap BC attribute mapping document prepared by GeoBC is now available for ICI Society members.  A few AWG members are collaborating to develop a land records cross-reference document that assists with integrating information between ParcelMap BC and Tempest. Esri Canada is continuing work to develop tools and materials related to support ParcelMap BC data alignment workflows and will work with the AWG to refine these resources. More information on these topics will be presented in subsequent AWG sessions.

2.  New ParcelMap BC Dataset Now Available in the BC Data Catalogue

Participants learned that the Province has added new ParcelMap BC dataset products available to BC Government employees. Beyond the fully attributed parcel polygons previously available, the following ParcelMap BC data entities are also now available: Control Points, JUROL-PID table, Plans table, Common Ownership table and Shared Geometry table. Find all available ParcelMap BC data products on the BC Data Catalog here.

3.  Outreach: AWG Peer Ambassadors and ICI Society 360Labs for Local Governments

The AWG has committed to prepare a contact list for adopter organizations to connect with peer organizations who are AWG Participants to provide input and insight on their ParcelMap BC questions. Additionally, continued rollout of ICI Society’s 360Labs for Local Governments extends the outreach and identification of key parcel related workflows for local governments. Event details for 360Labs can be found here

The next AWG working session is scheduled for May 15, 2019. Do you have a suggestion for the group? Contact the facilitators at pmbc.awg@icisociety.ca.
