Registering a Claim of Builders Lien with the LTSA is an important first step in protecting your claim for an outstanding debt for work done that qualifies under the Builders Lien Act.

Steps to Apply at a Land Title Office Counter or by Mail

  1. FileForm 5 from Builders Lien Act and general filing letter completed by the lawyer, notary public, lien claimant or registry agent.
    1. The nine-digit Parcel Identifier Number (PID) and legal description of the land, which can be searched for using BC Assessment’s e-valueBC website or found on your property tax assessment notice for the land or must be inserted in the form.
  2. There is no fee to file a Claim of Builders Lien.
  3. If you require confirmation of registration, please complete the PDF iconRequest Form for State of Title Certificate and for each title include payment of $14.31 for the Certification fee.

  • Submit the completed form(s) to the land title office.
  • Hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday 
  • Payment is by debit, Visa, MasterCard, cheque or money order
  • Cash is not accepted

By Mail

  • Fees are payable in Canadian funds by cheque or money order payable to: Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia
  • Do not mail cash
