Taylor, Product Owner, Geospatial Services, and Alex, Parcel Fabric Technician are committed to the day-to-day development and support of ParcelMap BC, delivering outstanding customer service and working on projects that leverage the power of geospatial visualization.

As experienced parcel fabric technicians, they are currently using their specialized skills on a project for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) to create a spatial index of highways and roads under MoTI’s purview. The webapp interface is in the proof of concept stage while mapping is underway.

Taylor and Alex are currently digitizing paper records, some dating back a hundred years or more, to create a spatial inventory of gazetted highways. High resolution scans of paper documents are georeferenced (essentially stitched together) as accurately as possible into a product aligned to ParcelMap BC.

Alex is responsible for creating the spatial shapes along with connecting the georeferenced images. Taylor focuses on project management and infrastructure. Depending on the complexity, it can take days to complete and vet certain plans.

MoTI has identified approximately 15,000 plans with more than half filed with the Land Title Office such as old R and H plans. The historic back capture associated with this project will add to the completeness of ParcelMapBC for the benefit of all customers and users.
