Property owners rely on the LTSA to deliver secure land titles through timely, efficient registration of land title interests and survey records. It is recommended that title owners seek the assistance of a legal professional when making changes to a title or accessing LTSA records, such as titles and copies of documents and plans.

    • Search Land Title Records

      Many LTSA records are stored online. Other older records are stored in microfilm or in paper and housed in one of the LTSA's three land title offices.

    • Search for a Title

      A title search is a record issued by the land title office setting out the particulars of a title to land, generated from information contained in the land title register at a specific point in time.

    • Order a Document or Plan

      Learn how to order a document or plan.

    • Order a State of Title Certificate

      A State of Title Certificate is a copy of the title that is certified correct at the time of issuance by the land title office. You may need a State of Title Certificate for your property for several reasons.

    • Find Information on a Title

      Ownership of lands, also known as fee simple ownership, is registered by registrars and examiners of title at the LTSA's land title offices. Upon the registration of fee simple ownership, a title to land is issued to the registered owner.

    • Find Strata Property Information

      When a strata corporation is established in BC, it is required by the Strata Property Act to file copies of its strata plan, bylaws and other records with the land title office.

  • Make Changes to Title

    LTSA recommends you consult a legal professional for advice on compliance with statutory forms and related matters. However, if you prepare properly executed documents that meet statutory requirements, land title employees will accept them for registration.

      Land title services are delivered by the LTSA’s Customer Operations division. The Director of Customer Operations is responsible for the examination of applications, and the Registrar of Land Titles oversees the registration of applications across our three land title offices.

    • History of BC's Land Title System

      Land title in British Columbia is based on the principles of the "Torrens system" of land title registration. Sir Robert Richard Torrens, former premier of South Australia, was instrumental in the implementation of this unique and efficient system of dealing with land.

    • Land Survey Plans

      A land survey represents pictorially the legal boundaries and dimensions of a surveyed parcel of land. It identifies the type and location of monuments or survey posts set in the ground to define the boundaries of the parcel.
