Meet Irshad, a PMBC Parcel Fabric Technician
As a parcel fabric technician at Landsure Systems, Irshad is responsible for maintaining and updating ParcelMap BC to defined quality standards. Friendly and helpful, Irshad assists customers resolve inherited geometry and attribution errors as well as address topology and other dataset structure issues to ensure the highest quality of survey plan data is submitted.
Several years ago, a course in computer cartography at York University spurred Irshad’s interest in maps. This lead to the pursuit of an Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems from the British Columbia Institute of Technology and the start of his career with LandSure beginning in 2014.
Since 2018, Irshad has participated in the Adoption Working Group (AWG) to facilitate organizations’ transition to ParcelMap BC and develop related products and services. To this end, Irshad coordinates material and resources so customers can get the most out of ParcelMap BC, including spatial alignment tools and webinars. As he says, “If there are ways to enhance customer enjoyment in the way our products and services are being delivered, I am all for it!”
Outside of work, Irshad has a history and passion for work in developing countries, primarily focused on disaster risk management. Fluent in English, French, Swahili and Sugni, he is also conversationally proficient in Spanish, Gujarati, Farsi, Tajik and Hindi.
