New legislation eliminates registration barriers for First Nations

Effective May 21, amendments to the Land Title Act and Property Law Act specify that First Nations recognized as legal entities under federal law (e.g., Indian Act Bands) will have the legal capacity and ability to register and hold land and interests in land in their First Nation name.
