Online Change of Name on Title Application for BC Property Owners Now Live

The Land Title and Survey Authority of BC (LTSA) has introduced a new online application for property owners to change a name on title. Accessed on the LTSA’s website, the new application can be used for individual or corporation name changes filed by the public. Applicants can also apply to change the occupation of the owner requesting the name change and mailing address on title at the same time.

Applicants should fill out the change of name application on LTSA’s website and then download, print, and sign it before mailing or delivering it by appointment to LTSA. Original supporting documents and payment should be enclosed with the application. The change of name application for property owners will generate a new change of name instrument rather than a form 17 with the nature of interest Change of Name.

The ability to submit online directly to LTSA via the BC Services Card app will launch later this year. Submitting a change of name application online will make the process even more convenient for the public by allowing applicants to pay by credit card and scan originals as supporting documents.

The introduction of the new change of name application continues LTSA’s efforts to improve access for property owners to file common land title applications. As the third form to be made available, it joins the change mailing address on title and Claim of Builders Lien applications launched in 2022. Since the launch of the new online applications, improvements in the accuracy and completeness of applications filed by the public have prevented errors that delay registration times.

There is no change for the public filing a corporate name change due to an amalgamation.
