Al-Karim Kara is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA), a non governmental self-funded organization that operates BC’s land title and survey systems and other registries.
Since joining LTSA in 2009, Al-Karim has played a key role in transforming the organization into a recognized leader in digital service delivery. As former Vice President, Business Innovation and Chief Information Officer, Al-Karim led major modernization initiatives that enabled 97% of land title filings to be processed electronically — placing LTSA among the world’s leading land registries. Al-Karim also led the development of the Land Owner Transparency Registry, a first-in-Canada system that strengthens transparency in land ownership.
Prior to LTSA, Al-Karim held senior executive roles at Xantrex Technology Inc. (part of Schneider Electric), including Vice President of Operations, Interim CFO, and CIO. Earlier in Al-Karim’s career, leadership and operational roles at organizations including Statpower Technologies helped build broad experience across finance, operations, innovation, and business transformation.
Al-Karim holds an MBA from Simon Fraser University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Director, and Fellow of CPA BC. Al-Karim also serves on the Board of Directors of the Arts Club Theatre, where Al-Karim chairs the Audit and Finance Committee, and contributes to other provincial and post-secondary advisory bodies.
