Digital Identity Verification

Effective March 8, 2024, the Law Society of BC changed their client verification rules (Rules 3-102 and 3-104) to allow the use of technology to verify client identification.

Earlier this year, the LTSA introduced Identity Verification by Treefort, an example of digital ID authentication technology, as a service accessible on myLTSA Enterprise. Coinciding with Fraud Prevention Month, all Identity Verifications initiated through myLTSA Enterprise will be free of charge until the end of March.

LTSA works with industry stakeholders to ensure a secure system that helps prevent fraudulent transactions. Innovative solutions like Identity Verification by Treefort contribute to LTSA’s vision of a real property market that is trusted and transparent.
