About the Land Owner Transparency Registry

The Land Owner Transparency Registry (LOTR) is the first-of-its kind in Canada; LOTR is a registry of information about individuals who are deemed to have an indirect interest in land in British Columbia, through corporations, trusts and partnerships. LOTR is housed in a searchable, public database operated by the Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA).

LOTR was established in support of the Province’s comprehensive plan for eliminating hidden ownership of real estate in BC. The Government of BC enforces compliance of LOTA. Visit the Government of British Columbia’s website for general information enforcementinterpretation of the legislation  and examples of indirect control.

By November 30, 2022, a transparency report is required to be filed to the Land Owner Transparency Registry (LOTR) for land owned by relevant reporting bodies prior to November 30, 2020.

Wondering if you’re required to file to LOTR? Visit landtransparency.ca and take the quiz.
