New Workflow for Survey Plans Now Live

SurveyHub is now available for land surveyors to assemble survey plans and associated datasets in a single, integrated workflow.

Land surveyors and their staff are invited to register for one of the following training sessions:

Sessions are eligible for 1.5 Category A CPD credits from the Association of BC Land Surveyors (ABCLS).

Directions to Land Surveyors No. 3, 12, and 16 and Surveyor General Practice Bulletin No. 2 have been updated to include practice guidance for SurveyHub submissions. Directions No. 2 and 5 have been retired, as they referenced outdated guidelines that are no longer required.

Land surveyors and legal professionals submitting survey plans will notice several changes to the new workflow such as notification emails (with the plan and related documentation) sent from “myLTSA SurveyHub”; pre-populated data fields; auto-generated approval signature statements and signature blocks, and, plan applications labelled “created in SurveyHub”.

In support of this release, the Director of Land Titles has updated several policy and practice documents.

  • E-filing Directions – approves the use of SurveyHub forms Application to Deposit Plan (plan application) and Survey Plan Certification
  • Supporting Documents for Electronic Applications – added the Application to Deposit Plan as a form where a supporting document may be attached, added a list of supporting documents that may be attached to a Change of Name on Title, Transmission to Surviving Joint Tenant or Application to Deposit Plan form
  • Valid and Retired Versions of Electronic Forms – approved the Application to Deposit Plan versions 24 and 25 and Survey Plan Certification version 17, Retired Application to Deposit Plan version 23 and Survey Plan Certification version 16
  • Electronic Land Title Plan and Plan Application Requirements – revised the Surveyor General approval of an Official Plan over Crown land to include subdivision, right of way, reference and explanatory plans
  • Land Title Electronic Application to Deposit Plan Help Guide – added direction to allow supporting documents to be attached directly to an Application to Deposit Plan form, added a table to explain the key differences and similarities between a SurveyHub Application to Deposit Plan form and an EFS Application to Deposit Plan form

The director has also approved new form versions of the Application to Deposit Plan and Survey Plan Certification forms and retired previous versions. Both new versions are available in SurveyHub. Only the EFS form version 24 of the Application to Deposit Plan is available on ltsa.ca. The updated forms include a certification statement under Land Title Act section 168.43 that allow designates to certify they have in their possession the supporting documents described in the application or a true copy if allowed by an e-filing direction. The update to the e-signing certification statement allows a supporting document to be attached to the Application to Deposit Plan instead of a Form Declaration.

System help guidance is available at help.ltsa.ca.

The introduction of SurveyHub is one of several steps towards streamlining survey plan submissions, increasing efficiency and accuracy, and maintaining a secure and reliable electronic filing system. This is a  foundational step in the Survey Plan Services Modernization initiative. Based on invaluable input provided by customers, LTSA will continue to seek feedback to deliver functionality that is user friendly, secure and efficient.
