Reminder – Lawyers and Notaries Public Can E-Sign the Local Government Filing Form

As previously announced, lawyers and notaries public can now electronically sign the Local Government Filing (LGF) form on behalf of local government and by using the form benefit from faster registration. Previously, e-signing authority was limited to Authorized Subscriber Members.

Specifically designed for applications under local government legislation (including the Local Government Act, Community Charter and Vancouver Charter), the LGF form does not generally require a supporting document, nor is there a requirement to print, wet ink sign and retain a true copy of the application. Use of the LGF form allows for automated review providing registration within 48 business hours from the time of submission.

Please refer to the Local Government Filing Form Web Filing Guide for form completion instructions.

The ‘Municipal Government Notice’ application will remain available on the Form 17 Charge to allow lawyers and notaries public the time to transition. However, the required supporting attachments will lead to longer processing times.
