LTSA’s 2024 Year in Review

This year was another busy year for our customers and LTSA, with several large initiatives completed to serve and address the needs of our professional and public customers. As we approach our 20th anniversary in 2025, we reflect on progress made this year within the context of the last two decades of advancements. Innovations in technology, processes and workflows have transformed our capabilities and set new standards. Our journey has been marked by continuous improvement and a commitment to excellence, fueled by your support and collaboration.

Earlier this year, multi-factor authentication (MFA) was introduced as an added security measure for all LTSA account holders. With the customer in mind, the program was rolled out with multiple MFA options and in phases to allow for a seamless migration.

In April, we introduced a new online workflow for members of the public to complete Transmission to Surviving Joint Tenant. This application joins other publicly accessible online forms, improving the ability of property owners to complete common land title applications. Since the launch, improvements in the application process have reduced errors that delay registration times.

The retirement of electronic filing exemptions for a final customer group – the Province and small local governments – is a major milestone. With more than 97% of land title applications now filed online, it demonstrates the significant digital transformation of BC’s land title system over the past 10 years.

This summer, after nearly a decade on its original technology platform, ParcelMap BC migrated to Esri’s ArcGIS Pro. Solidifying ParcelMap BC for the future, this transition will enable LTSA to develop a new generation of property information capabilities for customers.

A new workflow for land surveyors and their staff offers a modern pre-submission workspace and smoother road map to assemble survey plans and related materials online. The introduction of SurveyHub, a foundational step in the larger Survey Plan Services Modernization initiative, streamlines survey plan submissions, increases efficiency and accuracy, and maintains a secure and reliable electronic filing system.

Supplementing these activities, LTSA is committed to providing customers with the information needed to prepare registrable submissions. Informed by customer feedback, system enhancements continue to be added, as well as up-to-date practice guidance, comprehensive online help resources and a variety of educational webinars.

With an average processing time below the four-day target and defect rates declining, we thank you for your continued efforts and support. We look forward to commemorating our 20th anniversary next year and to many more years of growth and collaboration.
