Change Mailing Address on Title
Contents
LTSA permits you to submit a change of mailing address on title application for yourself or on behalf of someone else. This application may also be used to change the mailing address on title for a Corporation. It is free to file a change of mailing address on title.
The mailing address on your title is where information about your property is sent, such as assessment, property tax and speculation tax notices.
There are a number of tax notices and documents which property owners may receive from various local or provincial government sources. There may be a short delay before your change of mailing address on title is reflected by other organizations, such as BC Assessment. You may wish to verify your mailing address is current with other relevant authorities such as BC Assessment and your local municipality.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following before you begin the online application.
- Parcel identifier (PID): You can find the PID by searching the property’s address on BC Assessment. It is also shown in the “Property Location & Description” section of your Property Assessment Notice.
- Names of all owners requesting the mailing address change, exactly as listed on title: If the owner names on the application do not match what is on title, it can delay the processing of your application. Order a copy of the title for a fee to ensure you have the correct information before starting the application.
- If there is more than one owner on title wishing to make the same mailing address change, file one application for all owners. Select ‘add another owner’ on the Property and Ownership page to list all owners. The owner filing the application acts as an agent on behalf of the other owners. Once registered, LTSA will update the mailing address for all owners listed in the application.
- Permission if filing on behalf of someone: If you are applying on behalf of a family member, spouse or other owner on title, you are acting as an agent and must have the permission of that person. As a safeguard, owners may be notified by LTSA of applications made on their behalf by an agent.
- BC Services Card app for online submission: LTSA uses the BC Services Card app to verify the identity of the applicant and to sign the online application. The applicant may be the person requesting the mailing address change or someone acting on their behalf. If you do not have a BC Services Card, you must submit by mail or in person.
Personal information is collected under section 26(a) and 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for the purpose of processing statutory applications, including receipt of payment where applicable.
