Filings to the Land Owner Transparency Registry for July 2021

In support of the Province’s comprehensive plan for eliminating hidden ownership of real estate in BC, the Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) is responsible for developing and operating the Land Owner Transparency Registry (LOTR), as set out in the Land Owner Transparency Act (LOTA).

For the month of July 2021, LOTR received 20,710 transparency declarations related to registering an interest in land and 2,069 transparency reports from reporting bodies. LOTR has received a total of 153,161 transparency declarations and 16,656 transparency reports since required filings to LOTR began on November 30, 2020.

By November 30, 2021, pre-existing registered owners with an interest in land who are reporting bodies must file a transparency report. If a pre-existing registered interest in land is owned by a corporation, owned by a partnership, or being held in a trust, it is likely that a transparency report is required.

Property owners are encouraged to consult a legal professional to determine reporting obligations. Find out if you need to file at https://landtransparency.ca/filing.
