LTSA Identity Verification Service Expands Identification Checks in Alignment with Compliance Requirements

Identity Verification, an online service designed to support a contactless Know Your Client (KYC) practice, now includes the option to require clients to confirm two government-issued photo identification. This service is provided by the Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) to help legal practitioners mitigate fraud risk in situations when remote witnessing and social distancing practices are necessary.

Also new is the ability to check foreign identification information from 10 major countries in addition to Canada. Foreign countries added include the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Qatar.

Conducting client identity checks using two government-issued identification supports basic FINTRAC compliance requirements followed by most legal professionals in BC. Identity Verification can be used to confirm your client’s identity when remote witnessing. It can also be used for in-person client meetings to reduce the physical handling of your client’s identification.

Try the service today on myLTSA Enterprise. Fees apply for verification of each piece of identification.
