Update to Practice Bulletin 01-16

Originally published on May 9, 2016, Practice Bulletin 01-16 provides practice guidance on dealings with the Remainder parcel following the registration of an air space plan. The registrar continues to receive increasingly complex air space plans for registration. As a result, Practice Bulletin 01-16 has been updated to clarify a discrete issue related to strata plans and the Remainder.

Specifically, while Practice Bulletin 01-16 does permit the Remainder to be subdivided by a strata plan, a phased strata plan of the Remainder is not acceptable. Please refer to the updated Practice Bulletin 01-16 for more information.

Applicants may continue to seek the registrar’s feedback on complex plans dealing with air space and Remainder parcels prior to their submission.  Although the registrar cannot make a formal determination on the registrability of the plan until the plan is deposited, applicants may benefit from informal feedback provided by the registrar or his staff based upon draft or initial versions of plans.

To set up an appointment, applicants may contact the Customer Service Centre via phone: Greater Vancouver area: 604-630-9630 or elsewhere in BC, Canada and the US: 1-877-577-LTSA (5872), press Option 1.

Please be aware that LTSA’s Land Title Office front counters are open by appointment only. A new booking and visiting procedure is in place to protect the safety of our customers and staff.
