Starting December 19, 2021, customers will receive a validation warning when the execution date precedes the date on the original electronic form.
Under Part 10.1 of the Land Title Act, an electronic form is the original document and a printed version becomes the execution copy of the original document. For this reason, an execution copy cannot be dated prior to the electronic form.
If a submission is made without resolving the validation warning, the registrar may verify whether the designate possesses a valid execution copy. Designates must provide the execution copy they relied upon when applying their digital signature to the original electronic instrument.
