ICI Society Local Government Board Representatives Adopt ParcelMap BC

The Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) and the Integrated Cadastral Information (ICI) Society are pleased to confirm that the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) have adopted ParcelMap BC as their authoritative cadastral parcel fabric representation. These organizations are the first local government board members of the ICI Society to adopt ParcelMap BC.

“With the planned retirement of the Integrated Cadastral Fabric (ICF), the time was right for PRRD to adopt ParcelMap BC,” says Aden Fulford, GIS Coordinator for PRRD. “ParcelMap BC is able to provide a current and complete view of land parcels with frequent data updates. The integrated information includes statutory rights of way, which is valuable for our district where a number of oil and gas utilities are active.”

“As an ICI Society board member for the past 15 years, I appreciate the collaborative effort behind ParcelMap BC,” says Steve Botham, Manager of Information Technology for RDFFG. “Together, we can all benefit from this shared resource.”

Brian Greening, Director of ParcelMap BC Products at the LTSA adds, “The data alignment of real property representation in ParcelMap BC is valuable for users such as local governments. We’re delighted these two organizations, both sitting on the ICI Society Board representing local governments, have  adopted ParcelMap BC  as their source for a spatial representation of titled and Crown land in BC.”

The PRRD and FFGRD join 38 other organizations — including local governments and other provincial agencies — currently using ParcelMap BC as their representation for property boundary mapping. More than 75 other organizations are also assessing or transitioning to ParcelMap BC.

Serving as a common reference for parcel information in BC, ParcelMap BC provides standardized and up-to-date  parcel information which improves land-related research, planning and business decisions. The LTSA and ICI Society are actively supporting the adoption of ParcelMap BC by organizations such as local governments and major utilities. An Adoption Working Group has provided key direction and input to prioritize actions that deliver on this effort.
