New Data Alignment Resources for the ParcelMap BC Community

The Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) is pleased to announce new resources are now available for the ParcelMap BC community to help with adoption of ParcelMap BC as the authoritative cadastral parcel fabric representation in BC.

Developed with Esri Canada, the Data Alignment Workflow package (DAWp) includes tools and workflows to initiate and maintain data alignment with self-maintained datasets, plus third-party datasets already aligned with ParcelMap BC are available from provincial agencies such as the Agricultural Land Commission and BC Assessment.

“We heard loud and clear from the ParcelMap BC Adoption Working Group (AWG) that data alignment issues from continual spatial improvements in ParcelMap BC were creating operational concerns,” says Brian Greening, Director of ParcelMap BC Products for the LTSA. “We set about resolving these issues in collaboration with AWG members, the support of the ICI Society to deliver these resources, as well as Esri Canada who developed DAWp for the ParcelMap BC community.”

“Esri Canada is a keen supporter of ParcelMap BC and has been involved since its very early days,” notes Dave Gariepy, Director of Land Information Solutions for Esri Canada. “We recognized that working with the LTSA to build data alignment workflows was an opportunity to support our customers and help the community realize the benefits of adopting ParcelMap BC.”

The data alignment resources can be found in the ParcelMap BC adoption resources hub including links to the DAWp, a list of third party pre-aligned datasets, as well as information on the new local cadastral tie submission process.

Serving as a common reference for parcel information in BC, ParcelMap BC provides standardized and up-to-date legal property information which improves land-related research, planning and business decisions. The LTSA and ICI Society are actively supporting organizations such as local governments, provincial ministries and major utilities to adopt ParcelMap BC. The AWG provides key direction and input to prioritize actions that deliver on this effort.

Organizations interested in adopting ParcelMap BC can complete the adopter checklist to evaluate their  readiness toward joining the growing community of ParcelMap BC adopters. Visit the LTSA website to learn more.
