Re:   Integrated Survey Area No. 10, District of North Cowichan, Updated Elevation Values; Integrated Survey Area No. 11, City of Duncan, Updated Elevation Values

The coordinate control monument listings for the District of North Cowichan Integrated Survey Area No. 10 and the City of Duncan Integrated Survey Area No. 11 have been updated to reflect changes in elevation values which are the result of recent work done to integrate monuments into CGVD28. Some monuments have been assigned CGVD28 elevation values, however the horizontal coordinates of all points will remain unchanged.

When vertical control is needed within these ISAs, users of the ISA listing must consult the row titled “El”. That row will specify whether or not the published elevation is integrated within CGVD28. “NOT INTEGRATED” denotes that the monument has not been integrated within CGVD28 and will therefore not be compatible with integrated monuments.

The changes in elevations should be taken into consideration in particular for projects requiring integration to a prescribed vertical datum such as the preparation of Air Space plans for registration in the Land Title Office.

Updated coordinate listings for these two ISA’s have been published in an electronic format under the authority of section 13(5) of the Land Survey Act. The new listings are available for viewing or download from the Surveyor General Division section of the LTSA website under Integrated Survey Area Program. This web page displays a table of all Integrated Survey Areas in numerical order. The ISA number provides a link to the respective coordinate control monument listing.

An electronic map of the location and extent of all Integrated Survey Areas is published in the ParcelMap BC Search for Land Surveyors view on myLTSA under the authority of section 13(1) of the Land Survey Act. ParcelMap BC shows the location and designation of the coordinate control monuments on the ‘Survey Features' >> ‘Survey Control’ layer and the boundary of the integrated survey areas on the ‘Survey Features' >> ‘Integrated Survey Areas' layer.

A user may also link to the MASCOT Survey Control Database to obtain control monument sketches and detailed coordinate information and revision history. To invoke this function within ParcelMap BC, turn on the ‘Survey Control’ layer to see the location of all monuments.

Click on the desired monument location; in the Search Results pane on the right side of the screen the monument should be listed by GCM number and when hovered over there is a link to ‘Search MASCOT’ which will bring up a new page with the GCM number pre-entered for a search in MASCOT.

Legal surveys within North Cowichan and Duncan Integrated Survey Areas must be integrated according to Part 5 of the General Survey Instruction Rules and the new vertical values must be adopted for all new and existing projects which have not yet been completed as of the date of this letter.

Yours sincerely,
